Schalmont sophomores Madelyn Erschen and Arianna Ellwood were nominated to attend the Future of Healthcare workshop last week at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences!

School Counselor Mrs. Gibbs explained she nominated Arianna and Madelyn for the event, where they joined more than 100 other area high school students, based on their academic performance and future career goals in the medical field.

Students started their day with a case study involving an infectious disease and then dispersed across campus into groups led by college faculty to address the problem from the perspectives of four different disciplines – biomedical sciences, clinical and health sciences, social and behavioral sciences, and pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences. Students later reconvened to discuss the possible solutions they had brainstormed.
