Jefferson Elementary was excited to welcome published author (and Schalmont senior) Lily Johnson last week to learn about the book she wrote and illustrated!
Lily shared her original children’s book “Operation Illness,” the story of Coughing Carl and a crew of germs doing their worst to get a classroom of students sick.
The book started as a Creative Writing class assignment last year but Lily was able to self-publish it with encouragement from her teacher, Mrs. Mattice.
Last week, younger Jefferson Elementary students enjoyed listening to Lily read her book and spending time coloring together. Older students asked great questions such as “How long did it take you to write?”, “How did you get the idea? and “When are you going to write another book?”
Thank you Lily for sharing your book with our youngest learners and congratulations!
