Schalmont is proud to announce Lisa Young as our new Assistant Principal for Jefferson Elementary and Committee for Special Education Chairperson.
Mrs. Young comes to Schalmont from Shenendehowa CSD where she has been the Academic Administrator for Middle School Special Education the past seven years and also served as the Summer School Assistant Principal. Previously, she worked as Director of Special Education at Stillwater and in administrative positions at Niskayuna and Schenectady school districts after starting her educational career as a school psychologist.
“I am thrilled to join the Schalmont School District and its community!” said Mrs. Young. “Schalmont has an excellent reputation and I was drawn to the team the minute I came to the interviews. I am eager to embark on this new journey alongside Jefferson Elementary’s amazing staff and students and to collaborate with all the families and educators across this great district. I am confident that my skill set and experiences will add to the positive culture and I am humbled to work with such an exceptional team to foster student success. It is my honor and privilege to join the Schalmont team and to serve the community.”
“Lisa’s passion for working with students and families was obvious to everyone who met her through our interview process,” said Superintendent Dr. Thomas Reardon. “Our Schalmont community will most certainly benefit from her expertise and enthusiasm. We are beyond excited to see Lisa join our team!”
“I also would like to sincerely thank Kathleen Russell who has done a remarkable job supporting Jefferson the past few months as we completed our search,” added Dr. Reardon. “Even with her numerous duties as Director of PE, Health & Athletics, Kathleen didn’t hesitate to offer her support at Jefferson. We can’t thank her enough!”
Mrs. Young will start with Schalmont July 1. Welcome to Schalmont!
