Fourth Graders Celebrate Moving Up During Ceremony


"Oh the places you'll go" said Jefferson Principal Joby Gifford as he addressed the Class of 2025 during the Fourth Grade Moving up Ceremony held on June 15. More than 100 students were congratulated by their parents, teachers and administrators during the program at Jefferson Elementary School.

Dr. Pallas greets student during moving up ceremonyDr. Carol Pallas, the superintendent of Schalmont, also shared some words of wisdom with the young students as well, encouraging them to continue learning and growing while never forgetting the golden rule, treat others as you want to be treated.

Each student was named and greeted by their fourth grade teachers which included Mrs. Cathell, Mrs. McGuirk, Mrs. DiCaprio, Mrs. Hughes, Mrs. Rossner and Mrs. Weeks and Mrs. Kinns. As each student was handed a Certificates of Promotion, their teacher told the audience what made him or her special. Many students were considered bright, athletic, and considerate, as well as funny and well-behaved. students sing during moving up ceremony

The students also performed "Music and Me" and "Five Great Years at Jefferson School," the lyrics of which were written by the students. Guests were treated to the students’ Top Ten list of their favorite things from the elementary school, which included their principal, teachers and friends.
