Jefferson Welcome Back Letter

Dear Jefferson families,

Welcome back to Jefferson Elementary School. I would like to extend a special welcome to our new families that have registered their children with us over the summer. In addition, we are proud to welcome all 129 of our kindergartners as they begin their educational journey with us at Schalmont.

Our first few days of school have been outstanding and it has been great to watch students reconnect with one another and their teachers, as well as re-familiarize themselves with our school.

While the following information was distributed within our student placement letters in August, I have provided some helpful reminders below.

Arrival

Parents may begin dropping students off each morning within the Ford Avenue Parking Loop at 8:45 a.m. Please follow the directions of our security staff and exercise extreme caution to ensure the safety of students, staff, and one another within our parking lot. Any child arriving after 8:50 a.m. will be considered tardy.

Dismissal

The K-1 primary doors will open each afternoon at 3:00 p.m. and parents and guardians may enter the building where they must show photo identification and sign for their children. Please send in a written note to your classroom teacher in the event you are picking your child(ren) up for dismissal or other appointments that require a pick up.

Please note that our buses depart each afternoon at approximately 3:10 p.m. We encourage you to download the Stopfinder app so you may track your child’s bus in real time and receive alerts. Please see this link for a helpful video.

Important reminders

Please be advised that Monday, September 9 will be the first day of operation for the YMCA program at Jefferson Elementary. Also, the Boys and Girls Club will open on Wednesday, September 25.

Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 24 (K-1) and Wednesday, September 25 (Grades 2-4) as we host our annual Open House nights. In addition, our first PTO meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17 at 6:30 p.m.

I am looking forward to a great school year that is full of learning opportunities for our elementary students.

Always Jefferson Proud,

Mr. Gifford
