Designing Coolers in Physical Science

Students test out their coolers

Eighth graders tested out the coolers they made as part of a Physical Science class project last week!

The lesson challenged students to work in teams to design insulated packing containers that could keep two small containers of ice cream frozen, explained Science Teacher Mrs. Bryson.

The hot temperatures last week were the perfect test as the coolers were placed in the school courtyard to see how well they insulated against the heat.

Students shared their coolers with classmates and explained their concept for their designs. They then opened the coolers and recorded the temperature of the ice cream inside to see how the designs worked.
