The Board of Education met last night for its regular meeting. Here is a summary.

• The Board of Education adopted a four-year contract agreement between the Schalmont Teachers’ Association and Schalmont CSD. Board members thanked everyone involved for coming together on an agreement before the previous contract expired, which has not happened in more than 20 years.
• The architect and construction manager for Schalmont’s Capital Project presented an overview of the work that will take place over the next months. They explained the goal is to complete as much of the HVAC work for air-conditioning in schools and pavement work to improve safety and traffic at both school campuses over the summer. Schalmont plans to update our community on the project in the coming weeks as soon as final drawings are completed.
• The Board approved the following full-time hires for next school year: Katherine Brown (Kindergarten Teacher), Alisha Couse (Academic Intervention Services), Raegan Gleason (Special Education Teacher), Joseph Keenan (Grade 1 Teacher), Alicia Madej (Kindergarten Teacher) and Kevin McKearn (Teaching Assistant).

The next Board of Education meeting will be Tuesday, June 20 at 7:00 p.m.
