The Board of Education met June 10 for its regular meeting. Here is a summary.

• The Board of Education approved a four-year contract with the Schalmont School Related Professionals Association, which represents our bus drivers, food service staff, teaching assistants, secretaries and other support staff. In the past year, Schalmont has reached four-year contract extensions with all three of our bargaining units.
• The Board appointed Lawrence Bennese as a district-wide Athletic Trainer, a position included in the new school budget that voters approved last month. Mr. Bennese, who has already been working with our student athletes and coaches during the spring season, comes to Schalmont after retiring as a trainer from the University of Rochester. Welcome to Schalmont!
• The Board appointed Nyla Mohrmann as a district-wide ENL teacher. Ms. Mohrmann has been helping Schalmont students for the past 10 years at Capital Region BOCES and will continue to do so but will now work for the district. Welcome to Schalmont!

The next Board of Education meeting will be Monday, June 24 at 7:00 p.m.
