Dozens of Schalmont High School students explored the writing process with published author Emma Kress this week who visited the library for an interactive writing workshop.
Students from Creative Writing, Film & Literature, Introspection, and English Honor Society shared their ideas with each other as they discussed story structures, characters, and compelling situations.
A former English teacher, Ms. Kress used numerous writing exercises to encourage students to share and develop their ideas. She also shared her experience of publishing her young adult novel “Dangerous Play,” which she happily autographed for students after the workshop.
“She did such a great job,” said Library Media Specialist Mrs. Jensen, who organized Ms. Kress’ visit. “The most rewarding part was having students get an opportunity to be so creative in an uninhibited space, to create something from scratch without any pressure.”
Thank you so much for spending time with our students and truly inspiring them!
