No School for K-5 on March 13

Dear Schalmont K-5 Families,

Our District is pleased to announce that we have recently adopted a new, comprehensive literacy program that will provide our staff and students with an ELA curriculum that is research based and of the highest quality. While we are slated to begin our new curriculum in September, there is significant planning and training that needs to occur in advance of our launch.

To that end, there will be no school for students in grades K-5 on Thursday, March 13 as the entire elementary faculty and staff will engage in professional development that would not be possible while actual classes are in session. While there will be additional professional development around our new curriculum over the course of the next year, these trainings will be accomplished within the regular school day, utilizing daily substitutes to release staff as needed.

Thank you for your support of our ongoing efforts to enhance teaching practices and student outcomes for our youngest learners.

Sincerely,

Joby Gifford
Jefferson Elementary Principal
