Here is what Superintendent Dr. Reardon wrote about each new member of Schalmont in an email to faculty and staff. Welcome to Schalmont!
“After screening candidates and two full rounds of interviews, we are pleased to welcome Alexandria Malatesta to the Jefferson family as a Kindergarten teacher. Alexandria comes to us with over five years experience from the Duanesburg CSD, where she taught Kindergarten. Prior to Duanesburg, Alexandria also spent significant time as a long-term substitute in the Berne-Knox-Westerlo CSD. Alexandria will make a wonderful addition to the Kindergarten Team!”
“Kelley Urbano was also selected amongst a pool of over 160 applicants. A resident of Schalmont with children in the district, Kelley comes to us with 12 years of experience in the Cobleskill-Richmondville and North Colonie CSDs. She is National Board Certified, and has worked as both a 5th grade-teacher and Math Interventionist. She couldn’t be more pleased to join the Sabre Family, and was drawn by both our community and the numerous new initiatives (particularly in the area of Literacy) she looks forward to supporting.”
“Morgan Carmada will be joining the Schalmont Middle School Math Department, assuming the vacancy created by Lorinda Gandrow’s move to the High School. Morgan comes to us as a Siena College graduate, and recently, a Molloy University graduate with her Masters Degree, where she also served as an Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach. Morgan comes to us having completed a series of long-term leaves throughout Long Island, and is beyond excited to relocate to the Capital Region. Her experience in working with middle school students and her clear core knowledge of math content made her the ideal candidate for this position.”
“After three rounds of interviews, Mary Zarecki will be joining us to fill the 2nd grade vacancy at Jefferson. Mary comes to us having completed a year-long leave position (2nd grade) in the Ballston Spa CSD. Her experience working as a short and long-term substitute immediately upon her graduation from SUNY Oneonta with her degree in Elementary Education and her references that were beyond glowing made her the perfect fit for this position.”
“Kettrick Bailey will be joining us as our new school nurse, with his specific location to be determined very soon! Kettrick comes to us having worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Mary’s Healthcare, Certified Allergy and Asthma Consultants, and most recently, as a floating School Nurse with the South Colonie CSD. I have no doubt he will make a wonderful addition to our team!”
“Olivia Santabarbara will be joining the Jefferson Team as a K-2 Teaching Assistant, assisting in the support of offering Tier I and II reading interventions. A graduate of Schlamont, Olivia earned her degree in Elementary Education (B-2 and 1-6) from SUNY Cortland, and has commenced a full-year program in K-12 Literacy through SUNY Binghamton. Olivia has been a familiar face at Jefferson, substituting during all college breaks for the past two years.”
“Kristen Brooks will be joining the Middle School as a Teacher Assistant. A proud member of the Schalmont community, Kristen has worked in a variety of special education settings throughout the Capital Region and most recently, as the Director of a local pre-school. Kristen’s experience as a special education teacher and passion for Schalmont made her the hands-down choice. She is excited to hit the ground running in September!”
