Dear 8th Grade Families,
Planning for your child’s 8th Grade Dance has begun! Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, June 8 for the Dance! This event is a semi-formal evening event organized by parents of the current 8th grade students, in partnership with faculty and staff. As a committee, we are excited to begin planning and would love your help in making this event a huge success!
Thank you to all who attended the kickoff meeting and have already joined the 8th Grade Dance Committee. Volunteers are still needed and always welcome! If you are interested, please contact schalmontclassof2028@gmail.com, to be added to the list of volunteers. Various committees include food, fundraising, entertainment, and decorating and we would love your help. If you have any questions regarding the dance, again please contact schalmontclassof2028@gmail.com and a member of the committee will get back to you.
In order to help make this event a memorable one for your child, we are seeking donations from local businesses, or current 8th grade friends and families. If you have, or know an individual, or business, that would like to make a monetary donation to this special event, please collect the donation in the form of cash or check made payable to Schalmont Class of 2028. No donation is too small – every bit helps! Please send donations in an envelope to school with your child, to be brought to the main office, attention “8th Grade Dance Committee”. These donations will be collected and deposited directly to our class account to be used for the dance. The balance will be carried over to high school for future Class of 2028 events – like Prom! If you know of, or own a business willing to donate non-monetary items that you think could be useful for the event, please reach out to the Dance Committee at schalmontclassof2028@gmail.com to discuss in further detail.
Donors names/businesses will be printed in our program that will be distributed at the Moving Up Ceremony to all attendees, in order to show our appreciation. The Moving Up Ceremony will take place Wednesday, June 26 at the High School, under the graduation tent. Additional details will be shared at a later time.
We are also asking all 8th grade students to send digital photos from their school years to schalmontclassof2028@gmail.com. These photos will be displayed in a slideshow at the dance. The kids absolutely LOVE coming together to view the slideshow and seeing themselves and friends, so please consider sharing photos, if only a few! Please note all photos will be reviewed by administration prior to being added to the show. We ask that you keep it under 20 pictures, and again, we cannot promise all photos will be used. All pictures must be submitted no later than April 30.
