Arrival
School begins each day at 7:40 a.m. when students are expected to be in their homeroom. Doors to the school open at 7:15 a.m. Please do not drop off students before 7:15 a.m. as no supervision is available.
When students arrive they may go directly to their locker and then to their homeroom. If students arrive before their homeroom is open, they may wait in the corridor.
At 7:38 a.m. all students should enter their homerooms. If students enter their homeroom after 7:40 a.m. without a pass they are tardy.
Students who arrive after 7:45 a.m. must report to the Guidance Office to sign in. If the reason for tardiness is legal, they will be excused and sent to a class with a pass.
Dismissal
Students board buses at the end of the day at 2:15 p.m. Students should not loiter in either the Middle or High School after 2:20 p.m. If a student has an activity, they are expected to report to a teacher by 2:30 p.m. If a student misses the bus, they should report to the Main Office for instructions.
Dismissal for late buses is 3:30 p.m. Students obtain a late bus pass from their teachers.
If you need to pick up your child during the school day, please send a note in with your child or call the Guidance Office by noon so we have time to notify their teacher. Please sign out your child in the Main Office.
Attendance
Daily attendance is important to your child’s success. Please try to make non-emergency dental and medical appointments for students after hours when possible.
If your child will be absent or late for school, please call the Main Office at 518-355-6110 with your child’s name, grade and reason for absence. If we do not receive a phone call, Schalmont will send an automated phone call to verify the absence.
