All smiles and high fives for Unified Basketball’s first week of practices! 🏀
The team is Schalmont’s first for our new Unified Sports program, which provides students with and without intellectual disabilities an opportunity to play sports together on the same team.
Coach Loiacono, Schalmont’s long-time varsity Boys Basketball coach, led the practices that started with each player giving a high five to all their teammates while saying their names. The exercise helped players learn each other’s names while also building team camaraderie!
The atmosphere in the High School gym was positive and jovial as players helped and cheered for each other throughout the practices. By the end of the week, student-athletes were already enjoying a full-court scrimmage!
Absolutely amazing job by our students and coaches! #sabrepride 💚🤍
