Dollars for Scholars Seeking Volunteers

We need your help! New board members are sought as well as ideas for fundraising, selection and administration of scholarships. We meet four or five times per year, usually at 7 p.m. in the high school library. It is not necessary for committee members to attend every meeting. If you have time to volunteer or would like to have your name placed on the phone-a-thon list, please contact Nancy Mafrici at 356-1562 or Carol Duchesne at 887-5054.

Phone-a-thon fundraising campaign

Dollars for Scholars conducts its annual phone-a-thon each spring. During that time, Schalmont High School students will call local residents and businesses to ask for tax-deductible contributions to student scholarships.

Local residents and businesses may make tax-deductible contributions to Schalmont student scholarships at any time of the year by mailing a check made payable to "Schalmont Dollars for Scholars" to:

Applying for Scholarships

All Schalmont seniors are eligible to apply for a scholarship. Applications are available on the Schalmont website and must be submitted to the guidance office by the deadline. Awards are made by a committee of volunteers. Students' names are removed from the applications to guarantee an unbiased selection. Academics, leadership, work ethic and service are all taken into consideration. View all scholarship information and applications available for the current school year.

Dollars for Scholars Application:

The group has a yearly goal of raising enough funds to provide six $500 scholarships to deserving Schalmont seniors. In addition, they have been privileged to receive several named awards, which were provided by family and friends to honor certain individuals.

Named Scholarships Available:

Special Named Scholarships are listed on the cover page of the application. The members of the Dollars for Scholars Committee are extremely grateful for the generosity of the individuals who have provided funding for these awards. All applicants for named scholarships must fill out a Dollars for Scholars application. Some scholarships have additional criteria that must be met, also.
