Swim team finishes 10th in state

The girls swim team performed outstandingly at NYSPHSAA Swim Championships this past weekend. Many had new personal best times in individual events and set new team records.

Here are some highlights:

This is the first time that the team has had swimmers go back to the top championship finals heat (top 10).

  • Allie Dixon finished 8th overall in the 200 yard freestyle.
  • Olivia Nelson finished 8th overall in the 100 yard breaststroke.
  • The 400 yard freestyle relay finished in 6th overall. (Allie Dixon, Emily Holman, Amaya DiGiovanni, and Mary Kate Conway (Mohon))

In the runner up heat (top 11-20):

  • The 200 yard medley relay finished 13th overall.
  • (Emily Holman, Olivia Nelson, Allie Dixon, and Mary Kate Conway (Mohon))
  • Allie finished 17th overall in the 500 yard freestyle.
  • Mary Kate (Mohon) finished 14th overall in the 100 yard freestyle.

In the consolation final (top 21-30).

  • The 200 yard freestyle relay finished 28th overall.
  • (Marianna Santabarbara, Emily Holman, Amaya DiGiovanni, and Olivia Nelson)
  • Mary Kate (Mohon) finished 26th overall in the 200 yard freestyle.

Every individual event or relay the girls swam at championships made it back to either A, B, or C finals.

They were the only section 2 team to send a qualifying team in all 3 relay events.

The 400 freestyle and 200 medley relays were the top finishers in all of section 2.

83 teams participated in the state championship meet, the Mohon/Schalmont team finished 10th (top team from all section 2).
