Letter from the PTO president

Dear Schalmont Middle School Parents,

On behalf of the Schalmont Middle School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), I would like to take this opportunity to welcome each of you and your families to Schalmont Middle School. I would also like to encourage you to get involved in your school. One great way of doing this is through the PTO. Whether you are new to the school or a seasoned veteran, we hope you will jump right in and get actively involved in our school community.

PTO Programs & Fundraising

Our primary objective as a PTO is to provide our school with funds, programs, resources and services that will enrich the education of every child. To meet this objective we must fundraise. Last year the PTO headed many activities and helped with planners for each student, field trips, Colonial day, Ghostly Gallup, and more! The PTO used funds from our 5 fundraising attempts’ to expand resources so that our students can continue to receive the outstanding education that they need and deserve.

Become a Volunteer…Why YOU should get involved

Whatever your own level of flexibility the PTO always appreciates its parent volunteers. Keep in mind that by volunteering you will get to enjoy interacting with students, staff and accomplish things that truly make a difference. Whether you have 30 minutes or a couple of hours, your time and your talents are truly needed. We can match your time constraints and interests to needed tasks and have many ways in which everyone can contribute!

A list of the various PTO fundraisers and events needing volunteers is attached. There is also a signup sheet attached. It consists of giving us your name, phone number and email. For each event we will send an email out. You will be able to volunteer for any of these jobs or committees by completing the form and returning it to school with your child, or by signing up at the Back to School Night on September 26.

You are not obligated to volunteer by sending your information in to us. We understand that schedules change and different circumstances may arise. If you are able to volunteer, simply respond when the email comes out for the event.
PTO Communication

The PTO will be meeting at the Middle School Library 7 times throughout the school year. We invite you to attend. The school and PTO will benefit from hearing your ideas, and you will be better informed about all the past and upcoming events at the school. Even if you cannot attend the meetings, we encourage you to go to the school website and read the minutes from the meeting. If there are any comments or concerns you can email us at schalmontmiddlepto@yahoo.com.

The list below is your 2016-2017 PTO Officers. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, ideas or suggestions throughout the year on our Facebook page.
